Hello Readers and Writers,
For those of you who missed my February Newsletter, I created a new character for "The Blind Switch." Her name is Billy Jo Bradley. Those of you who have read "The Mae December" mysteries will remember Detective Wayne Nichols and Investigator Dory Clarkson. When Wayne and Dory leave the Rosedale Sheriff's Office to go to work for Rosedale Investigations (a PI firm), they meet retired Detective PD Pascoe (who made a cameo appearance in "Two Dogs Lie Sleeping). He owns and runs the business. Young Billy Jo Bradley is ambitious, smart and determined to preserve her own maverick style of attire. Most of the time, Wayne thinks she looks like a skater chick, or perhaps one of the trans-gendered. Dory sets to work on Billy Jo, determined to have her look more professional-at least in the office. Dory also learns that Billy Jo has an odd musical preference. She likes opera! Intending to encourage Billy Jo to find a young man who can afford her taste in music, Dory finds Billy Jo an opera swain. Billy Jo buys the tickets to "The Magic Flute" and a beautiful purple gown, using the office credit card! PD is not amused! Since she did help "crack the case" in the story, PD (after some grumbling) gives her a bonus that covers the cost of the tickets. But Billy Jo starts making monthly payments to pay the office back for the dress. She's a good sport about it and gives Wayne, Dory and PD special gifts to thank them for "putting up with her."

We've had a warm winter in Michigan this year. I've only had to have the driveway plowed twice but we finally have snow! Its fairy tale snow, white and fluffy. Reminds me of winters in my childhood, sledding, hot chocolate, & reading by the fireplace. |
